*Project Co-Produced with Michael Ageno

The project is sited on the northern most lot to maximize the sun exposure for the building, both for maximum light for day lighting, but also to maximize solar energy potential. The shading studies shown to the right indicate that the eastern most lot receives the most sun.

The building angle diagrams indicates that the building lean and twist are responses to maximizing sun. San Francisco early morning fog makes the optimal angle 10% off south to compensate for the loss of early morning sun.

The angled form of the building responds to the local shading condition of the new Rincon Towers. Tilting the building away from the towers shadow, maximizes both the sun and the amount of building envelope for PV panels.

The 3 sites have been woven together with a series of street and plaza level retail, a programmatically shifted inhabitable. including many dining options. This plinth connects the building to the site, and ultimately, to the city.
